i ve got the blues. : Monday Blues

Monday Blues! Well.. not those kinds of blues! I've spotted a new trend that's been slowly creeping up the celebrity fashion chain - Cobalt Blue! I noticed a blue bag on Emmy Rossum for a piece I did about Weekend Wear - and blue was turning up on so many runways during Spring/Summer 2011 Fashion Week (see this Jason Wu gown and all over the runway at Jil Sander) In the past few weeks celebs have been snapped wearing this exact color - mostly in sheaths.

This is a fantastic color for the upcoming warmer months! So Vibrant - I am loving it. Black accessories look great like Kerry's simple shoes and clutch or go bolder with tons of gold jewelry a la Blake or a statement necklace like Jessica's. If you aren't totally loving the idea of wearing a blue dress - try a different piece.

Here, two Gossip Girlfashionistas prove you don't have to be blue all over in order to keep up with the trends. Leighton Meester (or Blair Waldorf) pairs her suede fringe booties with some navy shorts. Of course - I am obsessed with Blake Lively's blue pants/gold sequined jacket look. When veering into the blue pants area, I say steer clear of jeans and try a regular pant. It will give a much cleaner and sleeker look than jeans. The best thing about this bright color is that you can keep the outfit simple as simple as you want (try neutrals like Leighton) or make it as showy and exciting as possible.
I searched for some affordable (yay!) and fabulous pieces that you could add to your closet. I am loving that messenger bag and those Jessica Simpson shoes - so fab

i ll blue tomorrow, or rather its best if i got myself a cobalt blue nail polish today.
let me go study. got 2 c.a.ts tomorrow.

the high waisted skirt

These have been on the catwalks and in the magazines for more than 5  years now, but as we all know, street fashion usually has a considerable lag on designer couture. Celebs are often the major trendsetters, as they have the means and the publicity to promote their favoured designs, and once enough celebs have been snapped wearing a certain style, it filters down to the most fashion conscious members of the public, and so on (see The five levels of fashion). This process sometimes takes years, depending on how unusual the new design is.
but that has not been exactly the same when it came to high waist skirts

the corporate look .how do you wear high waisted skirts out?  You don’t want to look like you’re headed to a business meeting, and we think the key is sleeveless, sleeveless, sleeveless.  Consider this look, paired with fun red heels or black but with red.

the casual look :) the one we now lovehigh waisted skirt

The high waisted skirt is one such example of this lag phenomenon. Because we've all been wearing skirts on our hips for years, having a waistline that was six inches higher felt - and looked - distinctly odd at first.
High waisted skirts and pants are super-stylish (I just bought three pair of high waist pants and two skirts for my wardrobe!) but remember they can be a little tricky on a short waist because they tend to visually shorten it. However there is a  styling trick to make it work for you, which is:
Streamline your outfit with a layering that 'connects' with the bottomYou can also work around the rule by wearing a vest or cardigan that matches with the color of the bottom to skim over the point where your waist has been shortened. So despite your short waist you can still wear a high waisted bottom like that girl in that picture  provided :-)

Keeping the rest of your outfit simple when wearing a high waisted skirt is an absolute must. They look best with plain tank tops tucked in, and ballet flats or simple heels. Unlike high waisted jeans, they are a flattering style for most figures, especially when the skirt falls just above the knee. Wear the classic high waisted pencil skirt in black or grey for work, and the fuller tulip-shaped or A-line high waisted skirt in bright colours (preferably floral) on your days off. Here are some photos of celebs wearing the different incarnations of the high waisted skirt, for your style inspiration.

my favorite vintage cardigans from my closet

i love vintage sweaters in many forms and colors.
While the loose-fitting cardigan is trendy in this era, coming into its own as part of the classic twinset, many cardigans are still cut to be V-neck fitted garments that accentuated curves while hugging the waist. This is the most flattering shape you can wear, as it gives you a smooth, sexy silhouette. A loose vintage cardigan tends to drop to the hip, which can make your hips look larger while giving you a more shapeless look overall.depends on how you wear it. with leggings or with denim.
Cardigans with long ribbed hems are ideal. Ribbing is stretchy and clings to the body. One reason so many plus size women in the 1940s and 1950s look like they have amazing figures is because their sweaters featured ribbed waists and darts that accentuated the bosom, so that they looked at once slimmer and curvier than they actually were.
i was going through my wardrobe yesternight and found my long lost cardigans. bought them a while back but have never worn them. im still waiting for the perfect weather and time.* not easy at all *
here they are :-

i love the golden buttons in this.

This is one of my favorite cardigans! The color is its own blend of pewter with a touch of blue. Its shiny and silk.

and in other news ,
i decided to start a scrap book to help me in styling( please dont copy )
im cutting of pages in the magazine (never help me with your mag,it might come back 3 pages )
my first scrap looks ruffled like the look :)
this will really help when i need ideas for a shoot.

a touch of retrovintage shoes for every woman : OXFORD SHOES

Oxford shoes, which first appeared in the 1900′s as men’s shoes, are tricky to wear.  i recieved ab email from my blog reader
'im a great fan of oxfords and brogues but i dont know how to pull them. help me shitawa'
Well,The shoes look masculine so the effort lies in making sure you don’t look like a guy after putting it on.
This rainy season has started with challenges not least of them choosing the right pair of shoes.Im more of strappy shoes person and when it starts raining that's when i notice how i dont have closed shoe
Sky-high confections will most likely garner camera snaps, but so will flats — when done right.
comfy brown oxfords with olive green cords, a posh trench coat, and a vintage leather backpack for a simultaneously functional and refined vibe. just what i d like to wear tomorrow. considering all the cats and dogs that has been happening * no pun intended*
how to wear them:

#1: Casual Chic – Wear your Oxfords with skinny jeans that fall above the ankle, top it with  a loose T-shirt and a Cardigan, then you’re all set!
#2: Sexy Casual – look sexy casual by pairing your Oxfords with some slightly loose jeans, fold up the hem to show your ankles, then top it with a tight V-neck sweater.
#3: Preppy casual – look preppy casual by pairing your Oxfords with a loose blouse tucked under a pair of pleated cuffed trousers that show off your ankles.
#4: Evening Casual – If it’s a casual night out, pair your Oxfords with a dark oversized cashmere sweater and skinny pants that fall just above your ankles.
#5: Party chic – The easiest look to pull off. Wear your heeled oxfords with a dark tunic or short dress, put on some black tights, and go party the night away! You can top it with a cropped jacket or blazer in case you’re feeling a little cold.
#6 Cruise Casual – My favorite of all the looks. Pair your white or light flat Oxfords with a short full skirt and a tank top. Accessorize with some bright neck pieces and don’t forget your arm candy.
Do remember though, that choosing the right shoe style is also important in order to achieve the looks. It’s best to purchase the narrow type with thin soles (such as the pair on Sienna) as it looks more feminine.  Keep it in one color and try to avoid the bulky styles.
i hope i helped you out nina.

ditto to valentines??? well.....

i know most women tend to say " valnetines is not my thing" well  i say; it is for me, it was meant for me.
ditto for chocolates, romantic getaways, lingerie, red dresses, flowers, date night apps, or anything else remotely Valentine's Day-themed.
im so booked*as always* by my lovely boyfriend Ed,
So whether you're single or hitched, why not consider treating yourself to something new and stylish? Shoes are always a good bet for me,but chocolate is more of my 'thing'.. even my boyfriend knows.

Enticed to take part in valentine ?

2 looks - 70's PANAche ! the turban,wide-legged denim

Today is such a bustle for me to get what to wear. it was more like a case of changed blindness*heard that in Leverage ssn 3* it means seeing what you want to see.
i have been seeing the same old clothes to the extent that i just need new ones. i seriously need a whole new wardrobe and look. Hope God heard me...
even though it's way tooo sunny in Nairobi , im more of a rock what you can, when you can. the malikirits.
i thought of 2 looks:
look 1.
Turbans are a sure way to add glamour to any ensemble. Work one into your cold weather or hot  ensemble — like this street-snapped Parisian — with a slouchy jumpsuit, cozy oversized cardigan, patchwork bag, and wood-heeled booties for an effortlessly luxe vibe.

and look 2

'70s inspired clothing is starting to creep back into the scene: peep how this street-snapped sophisticate integrated the look into her wardrobe. High-waist, wide-legged denim trousers evoke instant old school chic, while a neutral sweater and luxurious hunter green shawl cape add panache.
and remember that panache
you should be using very often around your girls .will make you look way more high society
wont it ???

thoughts of a broken heart : jimmy choo bag

just fifteen minutes ago i was devastated:
When your heart is broken it is the saddest thing in the world. All your energy leaves you and everything in your life seems to lose all meaning. You gave your heart and soul to this love, and now it is no more. How can your heart ever be whole again? There is a very deep thought attributed the Mystical Rabbi of Kotzk, "there is nothing as whole as a broken heart". Although a broken heart is painful, it brings a person to turn to G-d. He realizes that he is ultimately alone in the world except for G-d who is always there to comfort him. but also all one needs to do is come down and think of what they just did and try to solve the conflict.
that's what i did with my other half and now we are okey.
this is when i  was insipired to post my heart, lush it as hard as i could to the cruel cruel world.
I want to cry
I want to scream
I want to tell you mostly
I hate that I'm so afraid of everything
I hate that you’re the one thing I want the most but can't have
I hate that you let me go before I got even got to say goodbye
I wish that you would come back to me
I wish I were strong enough to say no to you
I wish I could believe my own lies I use to cover up the pain you left
I need to move on says my head
I need to hold on says my heart
I need to decide says my mind
I envy the way this hasn’t hurt you at all
I envy her
I envy the fact you don’t understand what this feels like at all
I want to hurt you
I want to be with you
I want this nightmare to be over
I wish I could make things they were before you
I wish I could change time
I wish I could change you
I wish I could have hurt you before you hurt me
I wish I would have given you the letter when I wanted
I need you out of my thoughts
I need you out of my heart
I need to start doing things for me
I hate that you used me
I hate that I gave you something I can never have back
I hate that I wasted it with you
I'm tired of hoping aimlessly for you
I'm tired of wanting something I can't have
I'm tired of hurting me for things that aren’t my fault
I'm sorry I was good enough
I'm sorry I defended you when everyone else was right
I'm sorry I couldn’t make you happy
Funny though how you never once said sorry for hurting me,
for breaking me,
for not loving me
but i love you still jimmy choo bag.
i got this bag as a gift from a good friend of mine, Nduku. it was such an honour to finally have a jimmy choo bag * never had one *

hope this emotional/fashion blogging has inspired in a way and made you think twice next time you have a beef in a relationship.

“Whenever you're in conflict with someone, there is one factor that can make the difference between damaging your relationship and deepening it. That factor is attitude.”
